But the two characters transform from themselves into Skrulls, the shape-shifting alien species from Captain Marvel. It turns out that Nick Fury has enlisted Talos, the ostensible villain but actual good guy from Captain Marvel, to impersonate him on earth. Here’s what happens in each of the movie’s credits scenes. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige recently revealed that the studio had a “five-year plan” for their next Phase of films.
Historically, the Skrulls have been villains in the Marvel comics, but Captain Marvel positioned them as allies of Nick Fury and Carol Danvers. Fake Fury does mention "Kree sleeper cells" to Maria Hill as a side-comment in this Spider-Man movie. At this Point the pair notice a breaking news story on a screen above a train station. In it Mysterio who was killed in the final battle, talks in a pre-recorded message, blaming Spider-Man for a drone stroke on Tower Bridge, and, in a shock twist, reveals that Peter Parker is Spider-Man.

Keen-eyed viewers may already have realized that this was Mysterio’s plan all along. When it becomes clear that Spider-Man is going to reveal Mysterio’s trick, Mysterio tells his henchmen he has a contingency plan. EDITH’s “execute” orders phrasing seems strange at the time and, upon a second watch, is clearly a set-up by Mysterio. After Mysterio dies, we see one of his henchmen pulling a USB out of a computer and leaving.
Instead of being the Daily Bugle editor, he now appears to be some sort of shock jock, minus the cigar and with a little less hair on the top of his head. Jameson is appearing on the news channel to spout off about the public menace that is Spider-Man. In it, an altered video clip from Quentin Beck of Mysterio and Spider-Man’s final showdown in London starts playing.

The sheer magnitude of Far From Home’s first after credits moment, which brings J.K. Simmons back as an Alex Jones-like iteration of Daily Bugle (dot net!) newsman J. Jonah Jameson, is so giddy in delivering a fan service moment that the magnitude of what actually happens might get a little lost. Hopefully, we'll only have to wait for San Diego Comic-Con in a few short weeks to potentially hear more about the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films. While James Gunn is returning to direct the third "GOTG" movie, we're more interested in the latter film.
While Marvel Studios hasn’t officially announced anything when it comes to the upcoming Black Widow solo film, it’s pretty much well known at this point especially since it has already started filming. And with that being the studio’s first release after Phase Three, it’s a safe bet that Marvel will be giving it a big push at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. And even though the film will only have less than two months of filming done around that time, that really hasn’t been an issue for Marvel Studios in the past. But, don’t worry, we’re not looking at The Snap Part 3. She’s secretly been a Skrull for the entirety of Far From Home – and so has Nick Fury! To tie it into the MCU-at-large, they’re actually revealed to be Talos and his wife from Captain Marvel.
What this means for future "Spider-Man" movies: It's not looking great for Peter at the moment.
Even though S.H.I.E.L.D. technically was reformed as a shell of what it once was on the series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., there needs to be something bigger than that to prepare the world for a much more powerful threat from the stars. S.W.O.R.D makes perfect sense to introduce into the MCU post-Endgame. Whatever it is, it’s clear Carol and Fury decided the necessary step was to get Fury onto a Skrull ship, leaving Talos behind to take care of what’s on Earth. Given that Maria Hill is also a Skrull, the real Hill could very well also be with Fury.
When Peter first receives EDITH, this name is played as a joke about Tony’s ego. But now Mysterio has used EDITH to similar effect, portraying himself as the hero even after he’s been killed. S.W.O.R.D. first appeared in Astonishing X-Men #6, back in 2004. Created by writer Joss Whedon during his celebrated run on the title, S.W.O.R.D. is Earth’s secret weapon against enemies from other worlds. Although technically they were a subdivision of S.H.I.E.L.D., for the most part S.W.O.R.D. seemed to function independently.
Spider-Man: Far From Home’s mid-credits scene teases Peter Parker’s future, and how J. Jonah Jameson will affect it
Maria reveals herself to be a Skrull, and Nick Fury reverts to a Skrull form too. They are the Skrulls known as Talos and his wife Soren, the Skrulls whom Carol Danvers helped in Captain Marvel. Firstly, Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson in a single frame? One of the greatest post-credit scenes of the MCU has to be in Iron Man when Tony Stark meets Nick Fury for the first time and tells him he's “not the only superhero in the world”. He tells him about the "Avenger Initiative," and thus starts a whole new franchise.
That includes who will star as the titular character. We don't know anything about how the Eternals will be adapted for the Marvel Cinematic Universe -- if, in fact, it's among the slate for the Phase 4 films. There have been rumors that Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, Richard Madden, and Salma Hayek have been cast as the main characters, but there's no official announcement as to where these characters are going to show up. In the comics, the Eternals are an offshoot of humanity that was created by the Celestials to defend the Earth as its super-powered protectors, but that obviously hasn't worked out on screen. It's likely that the Eternals have already taken to space; in the comics, there are Eternal off-shoots that have made colonies on Titan (one of Saturn's moons, not the planet Thanos is from) and Uranus, which...
Presumably Talos has been impersonating Nick Fury just during the events of this film and not before — though we can’t be certain. But Mysterio, who resented Tony Stark’s power, is also trying to gain Tony-like control here. Tony built EDITH, which stands for “Even Dead I’m The Hero,” for Peter.
The scene then cuts to Fury sunning himself on a beach, sipping juice from a coconut. For one thing, everyone who knows Spider-Man’s secret – that would be Happy, Aunt May, MJ, and Ned – are now in the firing line for any supervillain that might want to hurt the webhead. But there’s also the small matter of Spider-Man being framed as a villain in the MCU going forward. A potential Spidey threequel could, theoretically, deal with him being chased down by the authorities a la The Dark Knight, while still having a megalomaniac hunting him separately. In the first post-credit scene, Peter Parker and MJ are dating. It’s adorable, because she knows that he’s Spider-Man, and the pair are shown swinging into New York West 33rd Street and Eighth Avenue.
As is standard with Marvel movies, there were post credit scenes – two in fact – that drops several hints about the next film in the Spider-verse. The first MCU film following the epic conclusion of the Infinity Saga and the second Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland includes two post-credits scenes. One will appear immediately following the end of the movie - technically a mid-credits scene - and the second after the credits finish. There are two must-watch end-credits scenes that will have fans talking long after the movie is over. The last one will change the way you see the entire movie.
However, at the moment, the studio has yet to confirm anything about the film other than it’s happening. Following a montage of Chadwick Boseman's best moments as Black Panther, the audience gets a shocker with the mid-credits scene, where Nakia brings a little boy to Shuri and introduces him.
